An ungewöhnliche Orte gehen.

Dear readers, dear audience, dear independent artists and creators!

Big goals, little money, no idea – that was us at HIDALGO five years ago: Two handfuls of young people, who passionately wanted to start a new classical music festival in Munich. A festival with the quality of the Bavarian State Opera and the flair of Bahnwärter Thiel. Classical music mixed with pop culture. Breaking conventions. Going to unusual places.

Since then, a lot has happened with us: we’ve had great reviews and real bombshells. Wonderful artists and many great people have joined the best team in the world. More than 150 people now work with us on and off the stage, both as staff workers and on a voluntary basis. In addition, our productions tour throughout Germany, we have built up our own collective of artists, established a circle of friends and founded a company.

We believe that classical music must come out of the big temples of high culture. We need social dialogue, interdisciplinary creativity, and the fresh wind of the independent scene. This is how we combine seemingly paradox worlds into intense, exhilarating experiences. In this spirit, we wish everyone: Here’s to new adventures in 2023!
